MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex today closed the day on Monday, the first day of the week. But the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange is above the 10,050 level. 

In today's trade, L & T Finance Holdings, Jaiprakash Associates, Sharada Energy, Apollo Tires, Bhushan Steel, Vokhart, Syntex, Eros International, Cadila Health Care and Torrent Power were up 10% each. 

The Sensex, which had lost 51.74 points in the previous session, fell further by 32,273.67 points to close at 10,057.40 points with a loss of 9 points. 

Among the 30-share Sensex gainers, 1,549 shares advanced while 1,070 stocks closed lower; The 178 stocks were unchanged. 

Tata Steel, SBI, Indian Oil Top Gearner; Infosys, Dr. Reddy, Bharti Infratel and NTPC were the top losers.
